A: Cheri Nappi: (Allergen Wash is definitely not going to work for your situation.) I have used "Mold Control" by Concrobium on fabrics (& they have different products for other applications as well). I learned the most by talking to the company directly. But, you can buy large containers or spray bottles of it at Menards (watch for their sales), Ace Hardware, etc. You must totally saturate your fabric, leather items (any porous materials) (make sure item is completely soaked), then dry it completely (without rinsing it out). Then, after it is completely dried, wash it right away as you would usually do with regular laundry detergent. "Mold Control" crushes mold spores. It worked great on my shoes, leather boots, and on the items I wanted to try to save (from black mold mycotoxins...most of which have a distinct odor, though some mycotoxins have no odors). The Concrobium product is odor-free (but you still have to take care to wear a mask over your nose & mouth so you don't breathe any of it in when using it...especially if you use their aerosol or spray bottles. (By the way, it's not cheap. I used it only for the things I could not part with (or couldn't afford to replace right away...like multiple shoes & boots. Then, I realized it would cost the same to throw out & replace the rest of my items as it would to buy the Mold Control product.) Having said all of this, it is best to throw out clothing exposed to any type of mold (esp. black mold mycotoxins...Stachybotrys Chartarum...because there is no way to know for sure if you were able to remove all of it. Some mold spores are not as harmful & deadly as the S. Chartarum is. They smell different too.) Even after taking these steps to clean your item(s) with Mold Control, you probably can wear that clothes without noticing any odor, however, that doesn't guarantee 100% removal. It's always best to not have clothing against your skin that has been exposed to mold spores (even after you treated it.) (In my case, per the advice of a mold expert, I threw out ALL clothes, suitcases, coats, etc., but my items were exposed for 4 months.) The black mold mycotoxins (biotoxins) are much worse than regular mold and mildew (believe me!). Huge loss & ins. won't cover that type of contamination. I lost approx. $15K worth of beautiful items & was deathly sick from the toxicity as well (lots of income loss too). It took approx. 1.5-2 yrs. just to function better in my daily living. I still have to avoid cheese & any fungus type of foods (& black pepper, cocoa, chocolate), & continuously drink apple cider vinegar & water to flush out toxins every day. You have to continuously work on detoxing your body after such exposure (probably for the rest of your life. Supplements available that help too. It depends on the amount of exposure you had. You (or your clothing) probably were exposed to multiple types of mold (even if not exposed to black mold...the worst kind on the planet). Hope this info. helps.
