It has a dual motor system that allows for vacuuming without the brush roll on hard surfaces to prevent scratching. The ProForce vacuum has 2 motors; one for the main vacuum and one motor for the brush roll. Please note the on/off switch has 3 available positions. I = Vacuum Motor, O = Off, II = Brush roll and main vacuum motor on. It is possible to have the vacuum on without the brush roll for vacuuming easily scratched flooring.
